Our PEPSI /
Mac's Motorsports racecar started in 4th position, on the
outside of row 2. The first few laps were a repeat of last night's
side-by-side racing with #54 Craig Ball who started in 3rd position beside
us. We couldn't make it stick though, and tucked in line in 4th
during lap 4. #9 Adrian Ward was falling back from his 1st-place
start, and we got by for 3rd on lap 8 after a couple of laps of
side-by-side racing on his inside. On lap 14 we traded positions
with #9 again after a 3-wide moment of lap traffic congestion, but we got
it back shortly after.
Then on lap 18 #9 got into our back corner
partway through corner 1 and spun us 180 degrees to the left!
#9 spun as well, and we made light contact with the #69 car that we were
lapping at the time. Thankfully the pack was able to get around us,
mostly on the inside. Because the
yellow flag was thrown to protect us and and #9, we were both put
to the back of the pack for the restart (which is really frustrating when
it's not your fault!). :-(
For the remainder of the race we tried to pass the tail-end cars to get up
to where the rest of the PRO drivers were, but
we never made it that far.
A frustrating 9th
place finish.
Congratulations
to #54 Craig Ball who went on to win the race. We went home with
minor damage to the back bumper and frame horn (although we haven't
checked out the left front suspension yet).
