Legends Cars are purpose-built
racecars that are inexpensive (for a racecar!), light, and adaptable to many
forms of racing. Strict rules limit modifications to keep the costs down
and the competition fierce. The best driver wins, not the one with the
biggest wallet! Of course, mechanical maintenance and suspension setup are important factors.
The Legends Car is a real
racecar, consisting of a tubular steel roll cage as a frame, a 125 horsepower
motorcycle engine run through a locked differential, and tight, responsive
steering. Total weight is approx. 1150 lbs., giving an impressive
power-to-weight ratio. It was originally
designed for oval track racing, but runs well on road courses across North
America. The roll cage is adorned with a "cute" fiberglass body
that is a 5/8 scale replica of a mid-to-late 30's Ford, Chev, or Dodge.
Ours is a '37 Ford Sedan.
